  2.   La Riveraine and La Voie Maritime

.

[ FRANÇAIS ] LA RIVERAINE: The bike path runs along the south shore of the St. Lawrence River, in the region of Monteregie, through several municipalities including La Prairie, Saint-Lambert , Brossard, Longueuil and Boucherville among others. The total distance is about 42 KM.

.

Generally, the Riveraine is a quite varied bike path because it crosses several municipalities whom, during its development, have designed it in their own way and according to their budget. The track is largely wedged between the river and Highway 132 which is a very busy highway.

.

The track is isolated from residential areas, especially around the middle of the path in Longueuil. The bike path completely misses the Vieux Longueuil for example. Access to services such as convenience stores and restaurants is limited by location. The constant noise of motor traffic on the highway breaks the atmosphere that would otherwise be more calm and serene.

.

LA VOIE MARITIME:  Beautiful fourteen flat kilometers track lined with trees that takes place in the middle of the river, on the Notre-Dame island, from Montreal to the town of St. Catherine on the South Shore. Open since the early 1980's, the Voie Maritime bike path is accessible either by the Champlain Bridge, through the Notre-Dame Island, from the gateway of the Victoria Bridge in Saint-Lambert or by the Ste-Catherine city bridge.

.

It is by La Riveraine et La Voie Maritime that we can access the Récré-O-Parc and its fun beach, a great family time on the South Shore! You can also take the Voie Maritime to the Parc des Iles de Boucherville for an amazing Great Nature biking escape or a couple of nights camping in the wild... just a few minutes from Montreal!
